Dr. Claire Kelly, Manager of Research and Evaluation at MHFA Australia
Claire has been involved with MHFA since 2003, when she first became an instructor while completing her Doctorate at the Centre for Mental Health Research at the Australian National University in Canberra, where the program was first developed.
Since 2005 Claire has worked on the MHFA Guidelines used to inform the courses, and is an author on the manuals and handbooks used in MHFA courses. She has worked in curriculum development, research, evaluation and training.
Her main passion is the mental health of young people and minimising the impacts that mental health problems can have on development, educational outcomes, and long-term functioning, however, she has expertise across the lifespan and has worked on research and curriculum development designed to meet the needs of specific groups in the community.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Stewart Kelly, Douglas Kelly and Jordan Auld
Stewart Kelly
Stewart has emerged in recent years as a pianist of great versatility and a sought-after teacher, broadcaster, producer and artistic director.
Based in Melbourne, he is on the staff of the Melbourne Conservatorium at Melbourne University and the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.
He is artistic director of the Music by the Springs festival and director of the Melbourne International Festival of Lieder and Artsong and in 2018 concluded seven years as artistic director of the Con Brio concert series at HOTA Gold Coast.
Douglas Kelly
Douglas is a young tenor who already has extensive experience in opera, oratorio and as a recitalist.
In 2018, Douglas received the Robert Salzer award in the national Liederfest and participated and performed in the annual Franz Schubert Institute Summer school in Baden Bei Wien, Austria.
In 2016 Douglas has been selected as a semi finalist in the Mietta Song Competition and received the encouragement award in the Herald Sun Aria competition. Douglas is also currently a young artist at Victorian Opera
Jordan Auld
Jordan is a classically trained Soprano with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree in vocal performance from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
In 2018, Jordan was a 2018/2019 Scholar in the Opera Scholars Australia developing artist program, which she continues this year as The Peter and Melissa Hebbard Scholarship recipient, and was also awarded runner-up in the Acclaim Awards Sleath Lowry competition.
For 2019, Jordan features in both Melbourne operas’ productions of Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer and Bellini’s Norma. In March, Jordan travelled to China with the Australian International Opera Company, where she covered the lead role of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, whilst also performing in the ensemble.
