Steve Dowey, Technology Manager at Sutton Tools
Our presenter will be Steve Dowey. Steve will discuss the adoption of the adoption of the industry 4.0 framework in companies.
Dr Steve Dowey, is the Technology Manager at Sutton Tools, an Industry Fellow, Senior Lecturer at RMIT University, and the founder of The Smart Enough Factory. After serving in the Royal Air Force he gained a BEng and PhD from Hull University and worked with SCADA, PVD coating and associated equipment development for cutting tool and semi-conductor applications.
Steve implemented a low cost, low code Industry 4.0 framework at Sutton Tools and by working with the Australian Defence Materials Technology Centre and Partners created The Factory in a Box. Steve’s Industry 4.0 focus is therefore on the “The Smart Enough Factory”, where the issues of cost, security and STEM skills are addressed to ensure the benefits of Industry 4.0 can reach the Australian SME, that is: Low Cost, Low Code, and Low Risk Digitalisation.
